Exploratory Study for the Realization of Community Care for the Elderly with Disabilities

Abstract

|
This study was conducted to collect basic data for the realization of community care that supports the life of the elderly with disabilities in their communities. To this end, a Focus Group Interview was conducted for 13 social workers at the General Social Welfare Center, the Elderly Welfare Center, and the Disabled Welfare Center, who are in charge of the work related to the elderly with disabilities in the community. The questions used in the interviews were based on the four questions presented by Krueger and Casey, and subject analysis was conducted on the collected data. As a result of the study, 4 Topics and 10 Sub topics were drawn. Topics were ‘elderly with disabilities in Blind Spots’, ‘Service experiences and awareness for the elderly with disabilities’, ‘Awareness of services for the Ordinary Life’, ‘Suggestions for Community Care’. Based on these findings, the research suggested establishing a system based on the identity of community care for the elderly with disabilities in the community, discussing functions and roles for the establishment of a community care system, and strengthening the capacity of community welfare community.
